    Dendreon Pharmaceuticals is looking for an experienced sourcing and procurement professional to lead a team of three buyers acquiring goods and services across three sites.  The ideal candidate has deep and broad sourcing and procurement experience in  a variety of indirect commodities and direct experience in a regulated production environment. 


    This role will both execute and lead others in sourcing activities, vendor negotiations, supplier delivery performance, and quality improvement initiatives. This role will be expected to manage multiple negotiations, concurrently, directly and indirectly through a team. This leader will be expected to contribute significantly to overall sourcing and procurement strategy and ensure that supplier relationships and contracts support the long-term strategy. Successful candidates will have a strong track-record of leading and/or developing a high-performance team, executing sourcing and procurement initiatives, providing thought leadership within the sourcing and procurement function. 


    • Lead a team of buyers across three sites for both direct and indirect spend categories
    • Partners with various departments to identify strategic sourcing opportunities to reduce costs, increase service level, and/or mitigate risk
    • Manages RFP process, negotiations, requirements gathering, and commercial terms and conditions with suppliers
    • Champions stakeholder relationships and achieve buy-in for sourcing strategies and business case for change; collaborating across the firm for economies of scale as well as standardization
    • Develop and manage supplier relationships in partnership with internal departments and other key stakeholders
    • Participate in the development of a category and supplier strategies and initiatives to demonstrate ownership of category and drive savings
    • Increase Procurement influence on third party spend across all business units, in particular major spend areas
    • Provide thought leadership and guidance to business units in the area of strategic sourcing, procurement services and supplier management
    • Manage and measure supplier performance for continuous improvement
    • Conduct research and benchmarking; provide key subject matter expertise on assigned categories
    • Participate in spend analysis to track company spend
    • Develop operational business cases to proactively drive/develop cost savings initiatives and efficiency gains


    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering or business
    • Must have managed and/or negotiated $10M+ in annual spend
    • Must have experience managing a team of buyers
    • 7+ years of experience in financial analysis, modeling and business case development
    • 7+ years of experience defining and executing category management strategies
    • Experience with supplier relationship management efforts including but not limited to tools and processes, supplier performance metrics, developing performance improvement plans, and top supplier recognition
    • Demonstrated success in driving supply chain improvements
    • Industry experience in biotech or healthcare sourcing
    • Demonstrated success in directly influencing the business as a trusted advisor
    • Experience in project management such leading an implementation of a project, work stream, and/or process
    • Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer



    • Ability to travel up to 30%
    • Ability to work non-standard work hours when necessary
