    The Commercial Training and Development Director supports the Commercial organization and leads the strategy and execution of Commercial training/development program offerings. This role will work closely with Human Resources, field and home office based commercial colleagues to identify, create, and implement a comprehensive training curricula , which includes initial sales training, advanced field training, and leadership training. This role requires a professional that has established management experience, exceptional collaboration skills to interact with multi-functional teams, and exhibit sustainable leadership skills. The key responsibilities for the role are: 1) Identify key gaps in the current training program 2) Develop a strategic vision for all commercial training related to clinical and professional development and 3) Tactical execution of training curricula.


    Remote position with frequent travel to headquarters located in Seal Beach, CA.



    Identify key gaps in our current Commercial training program:

    • Strong business knowledge required to understand key business drivers and identify the required skills necessary for our Commercial organization.
    • Analytical background to help define business outcomes of established Commercial training curricula.

    Develop a strategic vision/plan for Commercial  professional development program:

    • Partner with all functions of the Commercial organization to define a strategic vision/plan for Commercial training and development.
    • In collaboration with HR, identify, create and execute a development training program consistent with the needs of the Commercial organization.

    Execution of training and development:

    • Liaison to field sales management/leadership at both national and regional levels to assess field training needs on a periodic basis. Liaison with key leadership within Commercial to assess and deliver on clinical and professional training for each function.
    • Maintain and elevate the needs for new hires by conducting a needs assessment and creating a sustainable new hire training curricula.
    • Oversight and delivery of commercial training conducted at live meetings or virtually.
    • Ensure the sustainability of training with the development of training updates and revisions
    • Budget oversight and execution.
    • Coordination with legal, compliance, regulatory, and clinical functional areas to ensure training deliverables are aligned with all corporate compliance policies and developed accordingly.
    • Works with commercial field leadership to facilitate management level “train the trainer” sessions.


    • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced business or life sciences degree is preferred.
    • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech training for specialty products; experience in Urology and / or Oncology preferred.
    • Ability to establish credibility as an internal thought leader on strategic and business issues.
    • Exceptional critical thinking to help identify educational gaps, analyze findings and make recommendations while articulating next steps.
    • Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility within training or sales and marketing.
    • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions, pharma industry guidelines, and other compliance-related issues
    • Adherence to Dendreon’s Compliance Policies and Procedures and ensuring that the team acts in accordance with our promotional procedures
    • Accountable for being fully knowledgeable of all relevant policies and for abiding by these
    • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Dendreon’s activities. Always follow Dendreon Policies and procedures.
    • Business travel, by air or car, is regularly required and estimated at 40%
