Your Role:

The Nurse Account Manager (NAM) is responsible for providing support to ensure safe, effective and appropriate use of PROVENGE® (Sipuleucel-T) (the “Product”) from enrollment to completed infusion for commercial accounts prescribing the Product and for third party apheresis providers. Support is provided through healthcare professional account education, clinical support, and facilitation of patient navigation from apheresis cell collection through the infusion process. The NAM also communicates with patients regarding their treatment journey with PROVENGE, using approved materials. The NAM also collaborates with Commercial to identify accounts that require education of the treatment process for PROVENGE®The role is field-based and requires extensive travelIt also requires close collaboration with other functions within Dendreon (e.g., interacting with the Technical Operations, Apheresis Operations, Apheresis Collection Sites, Sales Teams, and Medical Affairs)All support and essential functions are conducted within FDA approved product labeling. This position reports to the Directing, Nurse Account Management. 

Responsibilities

Your Work:

  • Provide support through healthcare professional account education and clinical support regarding enrollment to completed infusion of the Product, as well as interactions with members of the Apheresis Network during all aspects of the PROVENGE® process.
  • Provide education in services for healthcare professionals who are registered with Dendreon to prescribe the Product, as well as healthcare professionals who potentially could become registered with Dendreon, related to the PROVENGE treatment process, including apheresis collection and infusion processes, product receipt and handling, product administration, Central Venous Catheter care, and process questions referencing clinical nursing practice.  The NAM will use materials approved by Dendreon in support of these services including patient selection, preparation and management as per the PROVENGE® Package Insert and clinical nursing practice. 
  • The NAM will document all communications with patients and will conduct all communications in compliance with all company and legal regulations and guidelines.
  • The NAM will work closely with their field sales colleagues to identify accounts for potential education on the treatment process for PROVENGE®This includes regular communications and meetings with Corporate Account Manager (CAM) and Strategic Account Managers (SAM) to identify strategies for each account.
  • Work with CAMs/SAMs to identify account education opportunities using various data-driven reports.
  • Work with CAMs/SAMs to conduct quarterly Business Reviews with targeted accounts and participate in practice enhancement meetings monthly/quarterly.
  • The NAM will use analytics and data on a daily basis, to monitor and maintain activities within the accounts and region they cover.  They will use the data to provide information and updates to their commercial colleagues and customers.
  • The NAM will provide a weekly activity report at the end of each business week to their supervisor.
  • The NAM will participate and attend all commercial trainings and meetings as warranted.
  • The NAM will regularly participate in and provide updates to the region(s) they support, via conference calls, regional meetings, and national sales meetings.
  • The NAM will deliver education to the entire account as needed, with a focus on NP, PA, RN, MA and LPN health care professionals. The NAM will regularly participate in and provide updates to the region(s) they support, via conference calls, regional meetings, and national sales meetings.
  • The NAM will be involved and attend local, state, regional and national association meetings and congresses, as warranted.
  • Provide approved resources, communications, and materials to physicians and their practice sites to assist in their evaluation of patients for venous access and the potential need for central line placement to minimize the possibility that the treatment process with PROVENGE is disrupted.
  • Foster strong relationships between apheresis sites and infusion sites to achieve excellent patient care with minimal treatment delay and loss to follow-up, including but not limiting to, arranging introductions between the prescriber healthcare professionals and the apheresis collection center prior to the first PROVENGE patient collection.
  • Provide on-site monitoring support to help ensure consistency and compliance to Dendreon’s process requirements as needed.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with internal business partners to successfully accomplish assigned responsibilities.
  • Track, trend, investigate, troubleshoot and report patient treatment fallout (schedule to infusion) through active management of all apheresis, manufacturing, and infusion cancellations.
  • Facilitate productive resolution to difficulties encountered during the treatment process to assure patient retention, schedule compliance and to prevent treatment delays.
  • Collaborate with Apheresis Operations and Commercial Teams to evaluate and address negative trends in Dendreon’s service and interactions with apheresis site and infusion sites.
  • Document contacts and activities such as site visits, nursing in-service calls and infusion supports.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of Dendreon’s documentation files and database.
  • Develop and maintain technical/nursing tools and templates as requested.
  • Adhere to all compliance and contractual requirements per Dendreon’s policies.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • RN and/or BSN required. Advanced degree in a health services field (e.g., MSN, MPH, MHA) and advanced training in clinical practice (e.g., NP, PA, OCN, ARNP, CCRI or CRNI) preferred.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of three or more years of related experience in the commercial pharmaceutical industry, working proactively and closely in the office setting, educating healthcare personnel, and describing appropriate patients.
  • Minimum of three or more years working closely with commercial team members to improve and educate on the therapy process within offices, for their patients.
  • Minimum of three or more years working closely in urology, oncology, or infusion setting. 
  • Educate offices, with a focus on NPs, PAs, MAs, and RNs, on the treatment process and the process to identify the appropriate patient.
  • Organize, schedule, and conduct Nurse Speaker Programs, including the recommendation of potential nurse speakers.
  • Working knowledge of FDA and PhRMA promotional guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to build effective relationships within the company and with external partners, at all levels, from technical/clinical staff to executives. This role requires the highest level of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, including travel, while responding to inquiries with offices, patients or commercial colleagues.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Up to 80% travel, including frequent overnight, is required. This includes travel in the field, in accounts, and travel/attendance at meetings, congresses, and conferences.
  • On-call and after-hours support will be required.
  • The job is performed in a field-based setting, including apheresis sites, physicians’ offices, community and academic hospitals, and a home-based office.
  • Dendreon is a fast-paced, high volume, adaptive commercial environment. Team building and multidisciplinary problem-solving are essential to success in this position.
